Wolves’ Schedule Looking Good!
Sudbury Wolves fans will enjoy 19 Friday night home games this season as the Wolves’ embark on a OHL Championship season on Friday, September 20th on home ice. The Wolves will open the season with a ‘home and home’ series against the Soo Greyhounds for the first time in franchise history. The Wolves and the Hounds will meet on six occasions this season as the northern rivals will once again compete for the BELL CHALLENGE CUP!
The Wolves first four home games will all be played on Friday nights before the Wolves host a Saturday night game on October 19th. The Wolves will play a total of 8 home games on Saturday nights including: VALE SUDBURY SATURDAY NIGHT on Saturday, March 1st vs the Niagara IceDogs! The Wolves will also play five games on Sunday afternoons starting at 2:00 p.m. The Wolves will play two home games on Wednesday nights with a new Wednesday night start time of 7:00 p.m.
The Wolves will enjoy a nicely-balanced home schedule of 2 home games in September, 5 games in October, 5 games in November, 6 games in December, 6 games in January, 6 games in February and 4 home games in March. The Wolves will face their new arch-rivals from North Bay for the very first time on Friday, November 15th when the North Bay Battalion make their first of four visits to the Sudbury Arena. The Wolves and the Battalion will play two games in Sudbury in the month of December before the Wolves wrap-up their home schedule during the regular season on Friday, March 14th against the North Bay Battalion.
The Wolves’ schedule will feature a number of home and road swings this year including six-of-seven games on the road from September 28th until Sunday, October 13th. The Wolves will return for a four-game home swing in October before embarking on a five-game road swing from October 27th to November 7th. The Wolves will enjoy a surprisingly-long 7 game home-stand from November 29th to December 28th which should prove pivotal in determining the Wolves’ position in the league standings prior to the league trading deadline of January 10th. November will be the busiest month of the season for the Wolves as Sudbury plays 8 games on the road. In combination with 5 home games, the Wolves will play 13 games in 30 days in the month of November! The Wolves will also enjoy a long home-stand in February and March when the Wolves will play 7-of-8 games on home ice from February 21st until March 7th.
All available “seats” in the Sudbury Arena will be available to the general public commencing July 2nd. The Wolves have enjoyed an excellent “renewal” of season Tickets as many are viewing the Wolves as a serious contender for the upcoming season with the potential return of overage goaltender FRANKY PALAZZESE and overage defenceman KEVIN RAINE leading the way. NICK BAPTISTE, one of the favourites heading into the NHL draft this weekend is expected build on his offensive numbers from this past season which has seen the Ottawa native and Sudbury Wolves 1st round selection vault-up the ratings due to his strong play in the play-offs and his performance at the U18 World Championships in Russia in April. Leading scorer MATHEW CAMPAGNA is also expected to lead the way for the resurgent Wolves’ squad.
Wolves’ season ticket holders will also enjoy “advance” purchase benefits for any shows or concerts that will be held at the Sudbury Arena this season – based on the Concert Promoter’s willingness to partner with the Wolves. For example, Wolves’ season ticket holders received advance sale benefits for the upcoming KISS concert that is scheduled to be held at the Sudbury Arena on July 23rd. Many more concerts and shows are expected to be held at the Sudbury arena next season.
