Player of the Month Winners
The Sudbury Wolves are proud to announce the team’s PLAYERS-OF-THE-MONTH
for January.
SAM SCHUTT is the CAMPBELLS CHUNKY SCHOLASTIC PLAYER OF THE MONTH
winner for January.
SCHUTT, 16, has earned a 82% average in three courses at LOCKERBY
COMPOSITE SCHOOL during the first semester. The youngster from Palmer
Rapids, Ontario was drafted in the second-round of the OHL Priority
Selectionlast year and has become one of the top rookie scorers on the
Wolves with 7 goals and 7 assists for 14 points. SCHUTT, is the nephew
of former Wolves’ great ROD SCHUTT who was a leading scorer for the
Wolves back in the 70’s and still holds franchise scoring records. SAM
SCHUTT is an up and coming goal scorer that the Wolves will be counting
on to lead the Wolves offensively during their drive to the post-season.
ERIC O’DELL is the winner of the TRAVELODGE HOTEL COMMUNITY SERVICE
AWARD for January.
The Ottawa native returned to the Wolves’ line-up in December after
sitting-out the first-half of the season recovering from off-season
surgery. The 20 year old Atlanta Thrashers prospect has taken over
from where he left off last season. O’Dell recorded 14 points in 11
games in the month of January. Eric is a positive leader for the
Wolves and continues to lead the team off the ice by participating
in many visits to local elementary schools. Eric has been an
outstanding role model for the Wolves young players and continues to
lend a helping hand to his young teammates and the Sudbury community
in which he has played for the past three seasons.
JOSH MCFADDEN is the winner of the INDUSTRIAL ALLIANCE PLAYER OF THE
MONTH AWARD.
The 19-year-old Guelph, Ontario native has led the Wolves in scoring
from his defensive position since the start of the season. McFadden
currently sits in 4th place among top scoring defencemen in the OHL.
In the month of January, McFadden recorded 4 goals and added 10 assists
for 14 points in 11 games. The Wolves had a record of 7 wins, 3
losses and 1 tie in January and Josh McFadden was a big reason for
his team’s success. McFadden is a power play specialist with six of
his ten goals coming with the man advantage. The Wolves will be relying
on McFadden’s continued leadership for the balance of the year.
MICHAEL SGARBOSSA is the winner of the MOLSON CANADIAN 3-STAR AWARD
for January.
The San Jose Sharks prospect had an outstanding month in January after
being acquired by the Wolves from the Saginaw Spirit. The Campbellville,
Ontario native led the Wolves in points in January with 10 goals and 9
assists for 19 points in 11 games. Sgarbossa was named a MOLSON CANADIAN
3-STAR WINNER in five of the 11 games in January including: Three – 1st
stars, one – 2nd star and one – 3rd star honour. Sgarbossa has displayed
his outstanding offensive talents on many occasions in the short time that
he has been in Sudbury and Wolves’ fans are anxious to see his continued
development in a Wolves’ uniform.
Our four award winners will receive their monthly awards from the
respective sponsors at Wolves’ home games during the month of February.
