Wolves Prospects Perform Well in OHL Gold Cup
Nine Sudbury Wolves prospects, selected in the 2018 Priority Selection, played in the OHL Gold Cup last weekend in Kitchener. Team GTHL Blue took home the cup with an 8-2 win over Team GTHL Red in the finals. Team OMHA Black picked up the bronze with a 7-3 win over Team OMHA White.
Team OMHA Black featured Wolves prospects Quinton Byfield and Ryan Smith who each had 5 points and 4 points respectfully in 4 games. Team OMHA White featured Michael Tiveron, Nathan Ribau and Jack Thompson. Also participating in the tournament was Kyle Aucoin with HNO, Giordano Biondi who suited up for NOHA, Blake Butler for Alliance and Simon Labelle for HEO.
“All nine prospects played well during the tournament and competed hard,” said Sudbury Wolves VP & General Manager Rob Papineau. “They were all instrumental in their teams’ successes and collectively had the Wolves as one of the top OHL teams represented when you add up their collective scoring.” “It was also great to see Kyle Aucoin participating with HNO as he was unable to attend our orientation camp and he had an outstanding weekend demonstrating his elite skating ability and strong gap control the entire tournament.”
The Sudbury Wolves would like to congratulate all nine players on their performance last week and wish them well in a productive off-season gearing up for training camp at the end of August!
