Wolves Kick Off Triple Header Wednesday
(GREATER SUDBURY, ON) The Sudbury Wolves are back on home ice after a 2-game road trip to start a 4 game homestand. Wednesday night, the North Bay Battalion come to town to take on the Wolves while the Mississauga Steelheads make their 3rd and final trip to Sudbury Friday night. Both games are set for a 7:05pm start. Sunday, the Barrie Colts are in Sudbury for an afternoon game, with puck drop at 2:05pm.
The Wolves picked up 3 points in their last 3 games, starting at home with a big win last Friday in front of a sold-out crowd against the Western Conference leading, Windsor Spitfires. Following Friday’s game, the Wolves faced the Attack Saturday night in Owen Sound losing out in a hard-fought battle before picking up a point in an overtime contest against the Guelph Storm on Sunday.
Wednesday is National Women and Girls in Sports day where the Wolves will celebrate women in hockey with current TSN sports reporter, Canadian Olympic Gold Medalist, and women’s hockey trailblazer Tessa Bonhomme, who will join the Wolves for a special ceremonial puck drop before the game. Tessa will be available to meet fans during the second intermission of the game behind section two. Wednesday’s game is sponsored by Topper’s Pizza. One lucky fan will have the chance win a $250 gift card to Topper’s during the pizza eating contest in the second intermission! Fans are encouraged to visit the Topper’s tables in the front lobby as well as lower lobby beside the merch shop for the chance to win more great prizes.
Friday night, Wolves alumnus and current Florida Panther defenceman, Marc Staal, will be in attendance to watch his jersey be raised to the rafters. As part of the Wolves’ 50th anniversary celebration the organization will honour Marc Staal and his hockey achievements throughout his junior and professional career with a special jersey retirement ceremony. The Wolves captain and OHL Playoff MVP will see his number raised up to the rafters and retired with the likes of Randy Carlisle and Mike Foligno, among others. The first 1500 fans in attendance will receive special Staal jersey retirement banner rally towels. Friday’s game is sponsored by Auto Depot.
Sunday night is Black History night to honour and celebrate Black heritage and culture. Come join your Wolves to celebrate Black history and culture. Sunday’s game sponsored by the Canadian Mental Health Association, Syngenta and Grain Farmers of Ontario. Fans are encouraged to stop by the sponsor tables in the lower lobby to learn more about mental health conversations and suicide prevention. CMHA will also be holding a Chuck a Puck during the second intermission.
Sunday’s game also marks the final Jr. Wolves Sunday. Make sure to bring your skates to join the team for a post-game skate with fans following Sunday’s game for the final time this season.
