Wolves Host Sting Friday
(GREATER SUDBURY, ON) The Sudbury Wolves are at home to closeout a 4 game homestand against the Sarnia Sting Friday night at the Sudbury Community Arena. Puck drop is set for 7:05pm.
The Wolves picked up 3 points in their last 3 games at home with games against North Bay, Mississauga, and Barrie. Following a tough match up against the Battalion the Wolves faced off against the Mississauga Steelheads Friday night in a battle with plenty of playoff implications. The Wolves put together a 4-0 victory which saw goaltender Nate Krawchuk secure his first OHL shutout. Friday night’s 4-0 win wasn’t the only thing Wolves fans celebrated as the Wolves also raised Marc Staal’s number 14 to the rafters with a special pregame ceremony to honour his OHL career with the Wolves and his hockey career achievements. Sunday afternoon the Barrie Colts were in town to take on the Pack. In a close game, which needed overtime, the Wolves collected one point in a narrow 2-1 game.
Ethan Larmand led the Wolves this week with 3 goals, while forward Landon McCallum picked up 2 points through 3 games as did defenseman Dylan Robinson. Goaltender Nate Krawchuk grabbed the first star in both games he played, leading his team to a shutout performance against the Steelheads and brought his team to overtime in a close game against the Colts. The rookie goaltender’s standout performance led him to being named OHL goaltender of the Week where he stopped a total of 49 of 51 shots, helping the team earn three of a possible four points.
This Friday, the Sarnia Sting make their first and only visit to Sudbury this season. The Sting are led by Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Ty Voit who currently sits at 71 points on the season. The Sting are 2nd in the West division only trailing the Windsor Spitfires.
