Wolves Fall Under Fire in Windsor
The Sudbury Wolves completed their Western Conference road swing Sunday afternoon in Windsor when they visited the Spitfires for the only time this season. The weekend woes continued for the Wolves as they were stunned by the Spitfires in a 7-1 loss. Gabriel Vilardi was the driving force behind the win for the Spitfires as he scored three goals and collected two assists in their victory over the Wolves.
It wasn’t until the final two minutes of the first period that either team could score. Jeremy Bracco broke the goose-eggs as made it 1-0 for the Spitfires when he scored the lone goal of the period. The Wolves trailed shots on goal 11-6 after twenty minutes..
Vilardi scored two goals in the second period to extend the Spitfires lead to 3-0.
Windsor goals continued in the third period as Julius Nattinen, Logan Brown, Mikhail Sergachev and Gabriel Vilardi all added to the Spitfires goal total. The Wolves only goal of the game came halfway through the third when Ryan Valentini released a hard shot that went top shelf on Mario Culina. The Wolves fell by a 7-1 final with shots on goal 35-23 in favour of the Spitfires.
