Wolves Announce 2021-22 Year-End Award Winners
(Greater Sudbury, ON) As the 2021-22 season nears to a close, the Sudbury Wolves presented their year-end awards Tuesday evening.
The Wolves can draw light to a number of positives, including the fact that they have one of the most highly skilled young teams in the league. Rookie David Goyette leads both the Wolves and OHL among all first-year forwards with 72 points and is expected to be a high NHL draft pick this summer. Kocha Delic, Evan Konyen, Nolan Collins and Quentin Musty also all had strong rookie campaigns.
“While we were extremely happy to be playing again after last season, this year definitely had its challenges with Covid shutdowns, injuries and a very unbalanced schedule in which we played 40 of our games out of 68 versus 4 of the top teams in the league,” said VP and General Manager Rob Papineau. “The bright side of it is that we had 14 players get their first year of OHL hockey experience and we will be much better for it as we move forward into next year. We have high expectations for this group over the next couple seasons and look to return to being a top team in our division like we were in the previous two seasons.”
The Wolves will wrap up the season this week when they travel to Sault Ste. Marie to face the Greyhounds tonight followed by their final game on the season at home on Friday against the North Bay Battalion.
The Sudbury Wolves would like to thank our fans and sponsors for their tremendous support this season in one that was unlike any other as we faced constant policy changes and capacity limits surrounding COVID-19.
Following Friday’s home game, the Wolves will shift their attention to the 2022 OHL Priority Selection set to take place on April 29th and 30th. The OHL Lottery will also take place in the coming days. As information becomes available, fans can follow along online at sudburywolves.com or on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Season Ticket Holders are also reminded that the Early Pricing Deadline is May 31st. Fans who purchase their season tickets for next season by May 31st will save $50 per seat and will receive two Sudbury Wolves Golf Shirts ($50 value).
