Storm sked heats up- very heated
By Tony Saxon, Guelph Mercury
If familiarity breeds contempt, there’s going to be a whole lot of hatin’ going on between the Guelph Storm and a couple of divisional rivals over the next three weeks.
A quirk in the OHL schedule has seven of the Storm’s next nine games against either the Owen Sound Attack or Kitchener Rangers. It starts this weekend, with a home and home against Owen Sound Friday and Saturday, followed by a Sunday evening game against Kitchener at the Sleeman Centre.
Throw in the fact that fifth-place Guelph is one point behind Kitchener and seven back of Owen Sound, with a game in hand, and you can expect some pretty heated games with potentially home ice advantage for the playoffs on the line.
“This is the time of year it gets harder,” said head coach Scott Walker. “Rivalries in your division are an exciting time for players and are good for their future and their careers.
