2012 NHL Draft
With the 2012 NHL Entry Draft just two days away several Storm players can only sit and wait while NHL clubs review their draft lists. Last June, goaltender Garrett Sparks was chosen by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 7th round, 190th overall.
Eight different Storm players are ranked by NHL Central Scouting for this year’s draft including Matt Finn (16), Scott Kosmachuk (24), Tanner Richard (41), Brock McGinn (49), Justin Auger (107), Zack Mitchell (151), Patrick Watling (155) and Zack Leslie (204). The most Storm players ever drafted in the same year was back in 1994 when seven players were selected.
The first round of the 2012 NHL Draft will be held Friday, June 22 (7 p.m. ET, VERSUS, TSN, RDS). Rounds 2-7 will be Saturday, June 23 (10 a.m. ET, NHLN, RDS).
Former Storm defenceman and recent Stanley Cup winner Drew Doughty was the highest Storm player ever selected when he was chosen second overall by the Los Angeles Kings in 2008.
