Storm fall to Rangers
By Tony Saxon, Guelph Mercury –
Riddled with injuries and dog-tired from playing their third game in less than three days, the Storm put forth a commendable effort in a 3-1 loss to the Rangers.
The defeat put the exclamation point on a horrible three-loss weekend that dropped Guelph’s record to .500 (9-9-0-1) on the season. Saturday the Storm fell 4-3 in Owen Sound.
“The kids in that dressing room played hard and they battled hard right to the very end,” Storm coach Jason Brooks said.
“Everybody played hard and a lot of guys played out of their roles and in situations they’re not accustomed to. I give them a hell of a lot of credit.”
The Storm played the game without their four best forwards. Michael Latta and Peter Holland didn’t play on the weekend due to shoulder injuries, then Matt Kennedy and leading scorer Taylor Beck both aggravated groin injuries in Owen Sound the night before.
Then Evgeny Molotilov injured his shoulder and didn’t return in Sunday’s game.
