Sandlak scores winner in Team Ontario win

Team Ontario evened their record at 1-1 with a 3-0 win over Quebec on Wednesday at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Timmins, Ontario.  Storm winger Carter Sandlak scored the winning goal for Ontario at 16:14 of the second period.

Sandlak and Guelph teammate Zack Mitchell are both competing at the tournament with Team Ontario. 

In their first game of the preliminary round, Ontario gave up four first period goals against Finland and never recovered dropping a 5-3 decision. Sandlak was ejected from the game after being assessed with a five minute major for checking to the head and a game misconduct.  In two games, Mitchell  has yet to pick up a point.

Ontario will have the day off on Thursday before squaring off against Sweden on New Year’s Day.  The Swedes are 1-0 in the tournament with a 6-4 win over Finland on Wednesday.
