Pedan told less is more
By Tony Saxon, Guelph Mercury – Like the team itself, Guelph Storm defenceman Andrey Pedan is going through a bit of a rough spot these days.
As the Storm prepared for home games Friday against the Windsor Spitfires and Sunday against the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, Storm coach Scott Walker had constructive criticism for the lanky Russian defenceman.
“I just talked to him about 30 seconds ago. I just told him he has to relax,” Walker said prior to Thursday’s practice.
“He’s trying to do too much: he’s trying to play defence, he’s trying to fight, he’s trying to score goals. I told him to just relax and play a solid game.”
Walker said he thinks Pedan has put pressure on himself to score more this year.
“I don’t know if that’s something he thinks makes a great defenceman, but he’s a big guy, a physical defenceman, and scoring is just a bonus.”
