Overtime brings win for Storm
Playing their third game in less than 48 hours, the Storm faced the Battalion in Brampton playing to a 1-1 after 60 minutes before Taylor Beck scored in overtime to give Guelph a 2-1 win. Guelph native James Prigione made his second career start for his hometown Storm and picked up his second win turning aside 17 of 18 shots.
The Battalion jumped out to a 1-0 lead after twenty on Thomas Stajan’s fifth of the season at 8:22 of the first. The hosts would continue to lead for the next 30 minutes plus until Peter Holland scored his second in as many games to tie the game at one. Shots on goal after two were 23-11 in favour of the Storm. Play in the third was a little more even with Brampton hitting Prigione with seven shots compared to six by Guelph, but neither team could break the tie.
In the extra frame, Beck finally broke the deadlock with a centering feed to Mathew Sisca that hit a Brampton player’s skate and slid behind Patrick Killeen for the winner.
The Storm will play two more on the road before returning to the Sleeman Centre on Friday, January 15th to host the Owen Sound Attack.
