McGinn selected by Hurricanes in Round Two
Brock McGinn missed much of the 2011-12 season with an injury, but the Carolina Hurricanes must have seen something they liked as they grabbed the Fergus native in the 2nd round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
McGinn, has worn the colours of the Guelph Storm for much of his hockey career. A graduate of the GMHA Jr. Storm program, McGinn moved on to the Guelph Storm where he has played two seasons. The physical winger, notched 12 goals in 33 games last year. Brock’s two brothers, Jamie and Tye were also selected in the NHL Entry Draft.
With teammate Matt Finn chosen 12 picks earlier, McGinn is the second Guelph player taken on Saturday.
The second day of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft in Pittsburgh could be a busy one for the Storm with six other players ranked among NHL Central Scouting’s final rankings. The list includes Scott Kosmachuk, Tanner Richard, Justin Auger, Zack Mitchell, Patrick Watling and Zach Leslie.
