Hy-Grade Steel Roofing Player of the Week
The Guelph Storm announced today that goaltender Matthew Mancina is the HY GRADE STEEL ROOFING Player of the Week for the week ending December 15th, 2013.
Mancina was perfect in two starts this weekend, stopping every shot he faced, recording his first and second career shutouts. The rookie goaltender had a goals against average of 0.00 and a save percentage of 1.000. On Saturday in Owen Sound, the Tecumseh native was named first star of the game stopping all 35 shots for his first career shutout before notching his second whitewash one night later against the Erie Otters, the CHL’s #1 ranked team. On Sunday night against the Otters, Mancina backstopped the Storm to a 4-0 victory turning aside all 21 shots he faced. He was named third star of the game. The last Storm netminder to record back-to-back shutouts was Garret Sparks in January 2012.
In 16 games and 803 minutes played so far this season Mancina has a record of 9-4-1-1, a 0.919 save percentage and a goals against average of 2.39.
