Congratulations to our WJC Participants!
January 6, 2015
The Guelph Storm Hockey Club would like to congratulate Robby Fabbri, Phil Baltisberger and Pius Suter on their play at the recent 2015 World Junior Hockey Championship in Toronto/Montreal, along with Scott Walker, who served as assistant coach for Team Canada.
Fabbri and Walker become the first Storm participants to receive gold medals since goaltender Garret Sparks won with the United States in 2011.
Drew Doughty was the team’s last Canadian gold medalist, having won back in 2008.
Robby’s performance was electrifying as expected, as he posted two goals and four assists in four games. In dramatic fashion, he kickstarted the tournament with two goals in the first ten minutes of Canada’s first game v. Slovakia.
Early in the first period of Canada’s quarter-final match with Denmark, Fabbri suffered a high-ankle sprain that forced him off the ice for the rest of the tournament. During the gold medal celebration, it became clear how much Fabbri meant to his teammates, as he was the first player to be passed the tournament trophy.

Walker earned his second WJC medal as an assistant coach, having also captured a silver as assistant coach in 2012. In preparation for the tournament, he coached the OHL All-Stars in the 2014 Subway Super Series and was also integral in the club’s selection process.
Baltisberger played five games with the Swiss team, incredibly suiting up for his fourth World Junior Tournament. He was taken off the ice in a stretcher v. Russia on December 28, but was able to return later in the tournament to help the Swiss team avoid relegation.
Pius Suter participated in his first World Junior tournament and posted a pair of goals in six games as a teammate of Baltisberger with Switzerland.
The entire Storm organization is immensely proud of our players and staff that participated at the 2015 World Junior Hockey Championship, and we welcome them back for the continuation of the OHL season!
We will be honouring each of our participants during a pre-game ceremony on January 9 v. Mississauga. For tickets, click HERE.
