Six Members of Storm City Attend NHL Development Camps
The 2023 NHL Draft has ended and teams are looking to the future with development camps kicking off this weekend. The Storm has six players who will represent the organization at various NHL camps.
Matthew Poitras – Boston Bruins
Matt was a 2022 second-round selection by the Bruins. He had a solid sophomore season with the Storm, tallying 95 points in 63 games. He has notched his name in Storm history for the third-highest assist total in one season. Matt will attend the Bruins Development Camp from July 3-7.
Michael Buchinger – St. Louis Blues
Michael was taken in the third round of the 2022 NHL Draft by the St. Louis Blues. He continued to build off a strong rookie season with an even more impressive sophomore season with the Storm. The Storm blueliner tallied 67 points in 61 games and went on to win the team’s Top Defenceman Award. On March 1st, 2023 he inked an entry-level contract with the Blues. He will attend the Blues Development Camp from July 1-4.
Braeden Bowman – Vancouver Canucks
Braeden will attend the Vancouver Canucks Development Camp as a free agent invite from July 2-5. Braeden is coming off an impressive season with the Storm tallying 72 points in 54 games.
Max Namestnikov – Vancouver Canucks and Carolina Hurricanes
Max will join Braeden at the Canucks Development Camp before making his way south to attend camp with the Carolina Hurricanes. His season got off to a slow start in Sarnia tallying just 7 points in 18 games, after joining the Storm in November 2022 he began scoring at a rate of 0.75 goals per game. He closed out the regular season with 54 points in 47 games.
Cam Allen – Washington Capitals
Having just heard his name called at the 2023 NHL Draft, the fifth-round Capitals selection will head to his first NHL camp. Cam tallied 5 goals and 20 assists for 25 points in 62 games during his sophomore season. He showed his athleticism at the NHL Combine just weeks ago where he finished in the top 10 in 11 different fitness events. The Capitals Development Camp runs July 1-5.
Jake Karabela – Washington Capitals
Jake was taken in the fifth round of the 2022 NHL Draft by the Washington Capitals. Jake tallied 39 points in 68 games during his sophomore season with the Storm. Jake will join Cam from July 1-5 at the Capitals Development Camp.
