Chapters Guelph to hold fundraiser for McFadden’s Movement on Jan. 10th
On Tuesday, January 10th, Chapters Guelph – located in Stone Road Mall – is holding a fundraiser in support of McFadden’s Movement. Garrett McFadden and a few teammates will be on hand starting at 6pm to meet and greet with fans, sign autographs, and spread the word about the Storm captain’s mental health initiative.
Chapters Guelph is getting behind the Movement, welcoming and encouraging those attending to request to donate a portion of their purchase back to McFadden’s Movement.
Guelph Life Magazine will also be a part of the night with copies of their Holiday Issue which featured the cover story on McFadden and his mental health campaign.
McFadden started the Movement to begin the 2016/17 season with the goal of raising awareness surrounding athletes’ mental health, focusing on the grassroots level. McFadden has met with over 10 minor hockey teams since, with more talks scheduled, to discuss his personal introduction to mental health and the struggles he has faced through his hockey career, both on and off the ice.
In addition to raising awareness, McFadden has also been raising funds to be donated to Wes For Youth Online (a youth online counseling service created in memory of Wes Cameron, a close family friend of McFadden’s who died by suicide in 2011), and the Canadian Mental Health Association Waterloo-Wellington-Dufferin branch.
On the ice, you can catch Garrett McFadden and the rest of the Guelph Storm in action this weekend – facing off against the Memorial Cup host Windsor Spitfires on Friday, and the visiting Sudbury Wolves on Sunday. With two home games, the Weekend Pass is in full effect – giving fans attending Friday’s game the chance to purchase a ticket to Sunday’s contest for just $12!
Get your tickets online, visit the Storm Box Office in Old Quebec Street Shoppes, or call (519) 837-9690.
