AMJ Player of the Week
The Guelph Storm announced today that rookie defenceman Matt Finn is the AMJ Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, December 19th.
Playing in three games this weekend, Finn picked up three points-one goal and two assists. Held off the scoresheet in Windsor on Thursday, the 16 year old made a big impact in Kitchener one night later. Recording two points in the Storm’s 3-2 overtime victory, Finn set up Zack Mitchell for the first goal of the game and scored the overtime winner just over a minute into the extra frame recording his second goal of the year. On Saturday afternoon in a rematch against the Rangers at the Sleeman Centre, Finn picked up his third point of the weekend assisting on Francis Menard’s goal in the second period.
With his three point weekend, Finn now has two goals and seven assists at the half way mark of the season and leads all Storm rookies in points with nine. He has recorded two multiple point games in just over a week span with three assists against the Erie Otters last weekend and a goal and an assist against the Rangers on Friday.
The Storm returns to action after the Christmas break when they host the London Knights on Wednesday, December 29th at the Sleeman Centre for a 7:00 pm start. The next night they are in Mississauga to take on the Majors before returning home for a special New Year’s Day match up against the Saginaw Spirit.
