But he’s a pretty big one.

The Storm blue-liner has been a tower of strength so far in the Western Conference quarter-final series, which resumes tonight at London’s John Labatt Centre.

“That’s just the kind of player he is. Great players play better in the big games,” said Mike Caruso, Doughty’s partner on the Storm blue-line most nights. “He’s done that all year. He’s our go-to guy and he seems to rise to the occasion every time.”

Doughty has scored key goals in both games, winning Game 1 with a lucky flip shot on net in overtime, then tying Game 2 Saturday with a rush that was finished off with a perfectly placed wrist shot.

He scored that one with a full compliment of NHL scouts in attendance, including some from the Los Angeles Kings, who have the best chance of getting the first overall pick in the lottery for this June’s draft.
