Steelheads Take Attack
The Mississauga Steelheads hosted the Owen Sound Attack tonight in their last home game of the 2012 preseason in front of a full house at Vic Johnston Arena in Streetsville.
The Attack took an early lead in the first, and we able to hold off the Steelheads for the remainder of the period. The start of the second period yielded some better results as Steelheads forward Josh Burnside scored 2 minutes in to tie it up at 1 goal apiece. But the Steelheads weren’t done there. With 15 minutes to go in the 2nd period, Spenser Cobbold gave the Steelheads the lead.
The Attack continued to fight, but couldn’t get anything past Steelheads goaltender Spencer Martin. An empty net goal by Kristoff Kontos ultimately secured the win for the Steelheads as they now sit at 3-2 preseason record.
The Steelheads will wrap-up the preseason on the road in Peterborough this Thursday September 13th at 7:05pm. Our home opener weekend will kick off Friday September 21st at 7:30pm against the Kitchener Rangers, and finish out Sunday September 23rd when the Steelheads host the Barrie Colts in a 2:00pm game at the Hershey Centre. Single tickets for the 2012-2013 season are now on sale and can be purchased here through Ticketmaster online.
