It’s been a busy month for the Mississauga Steelheads! There’s just as much action off ice as there was on ice this past season. Check out the events we attended in our community throughout the month of May:
TUESDAY MAY 3 – Steelheads 2015-16 Awards Banquet
To kick off the post-season, the Steelheads held their annual end of season awards banquet at Le Dome Banquet Hall in Oakville, ON. Players, staff, family and friends all gathered to celebrate the accomplishments and achievements of the team after a hard working year. The award recipients included:
Scholastic Player of the Year: Nicolas Hague
Rookie of the Year: Alex Nylander
Most sportsmanlike player: Ryan McLeod
Hazel McCallion Community Service Award: Stefan LeBlanc
Most Valuable Player: Jack Flinn
WEDNESDAY MAY 4 – McHappy Day
It was all smiles for the Steelheads who were hanging out at the McDonald’s at Bristol Road and Hwy 10 in support of Ronald McDonald House on McHappy Day. Steelheads’ Jake Harrison, mascot Sauga, and staff had a blast meeting fans, serving customers and creating buzz about this national fundraiser.
THURSDAY MAY 12 – Tecumseh Public School Fun Fair
Sauga, along with Steelheads staff and volunteers attended
Tecumseh Public School’s fun fair. The kids came ready to play as they took turns showing off their hockey skills by shooting pucks at the targets on our huge inflatable!
FRIDAY MAY 27 – Brookmede Public School Fun Fair
What better way to end off the school week with a fun fair! Sauga, Steelheads staff and volunteers enjoyed a fun-filled evening at 
Brookmede Public School. Students showed off their skills and even got a few pointers from Sauga himself.
SATURDAY MAY 28 – Britannia Public School Spring Fair
Sauga was a huge hit at Britannia Public School’s spring fair! While
Sauga was swimming through the crowd, Steelheads staff and volunteers ran the inflatable where we saw some talented kids (and adults) aiming for those targets!
A huge thank you to our volunteers who helped out at all the events and to everyone who came out to visit your Mississauga Steelheads.

- Friday June 24 – St. Christopher’s Fun Fair
- Sunday June 26 – CMHA Ride
