01/28/13 Spirit Look to Continue Hot Steak with Two Home Games this Week
The Spirit will open the month of February as the OHL’s hottest team with nine wins in their last ten games, and two starts coming up at the Dow Event Center this weekend. The Peterborough Petes will provide the opposition on Friday, February 1st at 7:11. The game against the Petes will be the second of two Saginaw Spirit Faith Nights presented by Causley Trucking. The Spirit will then square off with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds on Saturday, February 2nd in a 7:11 start. The annual MCVI Foundation Shocks and Saves Game will be played at 4:30 prior to the Spirit Greyhounds clash. Heading into this week’s action, the Spirit trail the Greyhounds by three points in the battle for playoff positioning in the Western Conference, with the Sarnia Sting also in range, four points ahead of Saginaw. The Spirit have a six point spread over the Windsor Spitfires for the eighth and final playoff position in the Conference.
Spirit Captain Ross Nears Milestones
Chicago Blackhawks prospect Garret Ross is on the verge of two significant plateaus entering this week’s play as the Spirit Captain will skate in his 200th career OHL game this Friday when the Spirit host the Peterborough Petes. Ross will also enter the franchise’s top ten list in all-time points with his next goal or assist, as he is currently tied with Patrick Asselin for that accomplishment.
Upcoming Spirit Events
February is a busy month for the Spirit, as the team will be hosting a series of events over the next few weeks.
