The Saginaw Spirit Charitable Foundation is a 501(c)3 corporation, non-profit foundation designed to give back to the Great Lakes Bay Region.
The Saginaw Spirit Charitable Foundation gives back to the community thru the various methods listed below:
- Adopt-a-School Program: In partnership with local businesses, local schools are given tickets for Spirit games to be used as rewards for student leadership, academic and athletic achievement and attendance records.
- Charitable Donations: Donations of Spirit merchandise and tickets are given to local charitable initiatives to be used as door prizes or raffle items for their events. Each season, the Spirit Foundation donates over $25,000 worth of tickets and merchandise to local charities.
- Special Events: In partnership with local Foundations, the Spirit Foundation helps raise money and awareness for various causes. Some examples of this would be the annual Hockey Fights Cancer game aimed toward cancer awareness and research, the Shocks & Saves game, which raises awareness for heart health and purchases AED’s to be placed throughout the region and the Hockey for the Homeless game, in partnership with the Saginaw Rescue Mission.
Funding Sources: Fans fund the foundation through the purchase of 50-50 tickets, several jersey auctions thru out the season, and direct and in-kind donations. Fans also donate unused tickets to the foundation, for distribution to charitable organizations as a reward for volunteers.
