10/08/12 Spirit Captain Vince Trocheck Enters Team’s History Book
The Saginaw Spirit now boast six players in franchise history to have recorded 200 or more points while playing for the Ontario Hockey League team. Captain Vince Trocheck joined that list this past Saturday night as his second period assist on a goal by linemate Garret Ross was the 200th of his stellar career, all spent with the Spirit. The Florida Panthers prospect joins former Saginaw forwards Ryan McDonough, Jack Combs, Josh Shalla, Jordan Szwarz, and Tom Pyatt as members of the Spirit to crack the 200 point plateau. Trocheck is now zeroing in on the franchise’s all-time point mark of 247 achieved by McDonough from 2005 until 2008.
The Spirit are back on the ice this Thursday, October 11 in Barrie as they will begin a three game road swing against Eastern Conference competition. The trip continues on Friday, October 12 against the Wolves in Sudbury, and concludes in Brampton in an afternoon contest on Sunday, October 14. All Spirit games can be heard on the flagship station of the Spirit FM Talk and Sports 100.5 WSGW.
Saginaw will be back on home ice for weekend games on Friday, October 19 against Mississauga, before hosting the Guelph Storm on Saturday, October 20. Both games will be 7:11 starts and the game against the Storm will be the Spirit’s annual St. Mary’s of Michigan, Consumers Energy Pink Out Breast Cancer Awareness game.
