Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. — The Saginaw Spirit fell 5-0 in Game 6 of their second-round series against the Soo Greyhounds Sunday night. Gavin Hayes scored twice on the powerplay, Jack Beck finished with three points (1G, 2A), and Jacob Frasca added an assist and the game-winning goal in the first. Nolan Lalonde started for Saginaw, stopping 29 of 34, while Charlie Schenkel stopped all 24 Spirit shots.
Late into the first period, the Soo won a faceoff in the Saginaw zone and looked for one more chance before the end of the period. The Greyhounds’ winger received the pass and then let loose a shot that beat goaltender Nolan Lalonde before the final buzzer could sound, giving the Soo their first lead of the game, 1-0.
