Watson cracks top 15
Moncton, N.B. — Russian Alexander Radulov, the most outstanding player in Major Junior Hockey this season, was the difference Sunday afternoon as the Quebec Remparts dumped the host Wildcats 6-2 to capture the 2006 Memorial Cup.r

The Remparts, led by coach Patrick Roy, won their first Memorial Cup since 1971.r

Radulov scored twice and set up three others the day after being named the Canadian Hockey League’s MVP for 2005-2006. As well, he was chosen the Tournament MVP.r

“This is like winning the Stanley Cup,” Radulov told the Canadian Press following the game. “I want to thank everybody responsible for me being in Quebec. It has been unbelievable.”r

“Any time you win a Canadian championship, you have to be proud,” Roy told CP. “It’s the best team that wins and we’re fortunate to be here.”r

Moncton had defeated QUebec in the QMJHL final to win the President’s Cup, but the Remparts ended a 16-game Wildcats home ice winning streak earlier this week with a 4-3 round robin victory.r

The 2007 Memorial Cup will be held in Vancouver, with the Giants going in as both the host team and the defending WHL champions.
