Tie Domi (1986-1989)
One of hockey’s toughest players, Tie Domi called Peterborough home throughout three seasons of junior hockey before being drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2nd round, 27th overall in the 1988 NHL Draft. He immediately went to Newmarket to play for the Saints, Toronto’s AHL affiliate at the time before being traded to the New York Rangers where he finally broke into the NHL full time. He was then traded to the Winnipeg Jets but Toronto brought him back in 1994-95 where he would spend the rest of his career as a fan favorite till he retired in 2005-06 but not before racking up over 3500 career penalty minutes.
