Steve Yzerman (1981-1983)
Steve Yzerman played two seasons with the Petes and was drafted 4th overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 1983 NHL Entry Draft. He went on to play his entire career with the Red Wings; a career that included three Stanley Cup Championships. He won gold with Canada at the 1984 Canada Cup and also won Olympic gold with Canada in 2002 at Salt Lake City. As a Detroit executive, he won another Stanley Cup in 2008. He was the leader in bringing together Team Canada for the 2010 and 2014 Olympics, where Canada won the gold medal in both tournaments. He is currently the General Manager of the Tampa Bay Lightning and has had his number retired by the Red Wings. Yzerman was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2009.
