Petes win final regular season game vs. Generals
The Peterborough Petes Ended the 2011-12 regular season with an 8-6 win over the Oshawa Generals after falling behind 3-1 in the first period. Andrew Yogan led the Petes with 4 goals and an assist giving him 41 goals and and 78 points finisheing the season with the most goals by a Petes players since Jamie Tardif scored 40 goals in 2005-06.
Cody Thompson opened the scoring 35 seconds into the game for the Petes, but the Generals added a trio of goals before the end of the first period by JP Labardo, Christian Thomas and Emerson Clark.
The Petes opened the 2nd period with five consecutive goals by Steven Pierog at 8:41, Lino Martschini at 9:19, Derek Mathers at 13:19, and Andrew Yogan at 13:54 and 16:19, but Clark netted his second of the game at 17:37 to cut the Petes lead to 6-4 after 40 minutes of play.
Yogan scored his 40th of the season and 3rd of the game 2:33 into the 3rd period, howver the Generals scored another pair of markers by Andy Andreoff at 13:36 and Lucas Lessio at 18:52, but Yogan finished things off with an empty net marker at 19:29 making the final 8-6 for the Petes.
