Petes take Game #1 of series against Wolves
The Peterborough Petes picked up where they left off last series, winning on home ice in the playoffs. The Petes are a perfect 4-0 at the Peterborough Memorial Centre thus far.
Jordan Morrison opened the scoring for the Petes 11:40 into the first period when he slid a loose puck in from behind Wolves netminder Kevin Beech.
The Wolves would battle back early in the second when Mark Versteeg-Lytwyn would chip a loose puck over Petes goaltender David Shantz at 5:08 tying the game at 1. The Petes reply less than a minute later when Danier Ryder scored his first of the game and 3rd of the post season on the powerplay at 6:02 giving the Petes a 2-1 lead after two periods.
Ryder gave the Petes a two goal lead scoring his second of the game when he brought the crowd of over 3600 to therir feet on a shorthanded break-away at 14:55 of the third.
Final score. Petes 3, Wolves 1. The two teams meet again tomorrow night at the Memorial Centre before heading to Sudbury for games three and four of the series on Monday and Tuesday.
