Petes Select Pavel Gogolev Eighth Overall in 2016 OHL Priority Selection Presented by ATU 1320
The Peterborough Petes are excited to announce that they have selected Pavel Gogolev in the first round, eighth overall in the 2016 OHL Priority Selection presented by ATU 1320.
Gogolev, a 5’11”, 162lbs right winger, played for the CIH Academy in the HEO in 2015/16. In 46 games, he recorded 38 goals, 30 assists, 68 points and 48 penalty minutes. The native of Moskva, Russia, has also played several games in the U16 program for his home country.
“Pavel is one of the top skilled players in the HEO midget league,” reported OHL Central Scouting. “He possesses a combination of size, skill, and skating that not many players have, and is an intimidating presence when in full flight.”
Pavel is currently in Calgary and will not take part in the press conference at the conclusion of the fifth round at the PMC on Saturday. It is expected that several other top picks will be in attendance at the event in the Peterborough & District Sports Hall of Fame.
