Matt Carkner (1997-2001)
Matt played his entire junior hockey career in the maroon and white uniform of the Peterborough Petes. Carkner was selected in the second round, 58th overall in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft by the Montreal Canadiens. From 2001-2009 Carker played in the AHL with Cleveland, Binghamton and Scranton. Matt saw his NHL dreams become a reality when he signed with his hometown Ottawa Senators and finally broke into the NHL full time in 2009 where he played four seasons with the Sens. From there he went to Long Island with the New York Islanders and he is currently a member of their AHL team, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
