Westland Insurance Community Player of the Month: November
The Peterborough Petes recipient of the Westland Insurance Community Player of the Month for November is Cam Gauvreau. This past month, Cam took time out of his busy schedule to personally deliver a ring commemorating the Petes 2023 OHL Championship to longtime Season Ticket Member, Joan Crowley, who can no longer attend games at the PMC.
Joan Crowley and her late husband Bill have been long-time season ticket members and supporters of the Petes. Due to health issues, Joan is no longer able to attend games but watches every game at home with a Coors Light and a bag of popcorn.
Joan and Cam spent a lot of time talking about the Petes and her favourite memories from over the years. Joan also took Cam for a tour around her personal “Hall of Fame” in the basement of her home. Over the years, Joan and Bill travelled all around attending different sporting events like The Masters at Augusta National, the 1988 Olympics in Calgary, the New York Yankees Games, and the Montreal Canadiens games; among many other sporting events.
Three generations of Crowleys have been inducted into the Peterborough and District Sports Hall of Fame. William Crowley Sr. in 1984, for excelling in hockey and making it to the Stanley Cup Finals with the Edmonton Eskimos in 1923. William (Bill) Crowley Jr. was inducted in 1987 also for his superior hockey skills, and William Francis (Bill) Crowley was inducted in 2013 for his skill and contributions to the sport of basketball.
The Petes are committed to being active members of the Peterborough community. Throughout the 2023-24 season, in partnership with Westland Insurance, the team will be highlighting a Community Player of the Month. Stay tuned to the Petes social media and website for updates each month.
