Bruce Abbey (1969-1971)
Born August 18, 1951 in Belmont, Ontario, Bruce was a standout in his hometown’s minor hockey association before coming to Peterborough to play for the Petes. After a solid second season in Peterborough, Bruce was drafted 91st overall in the 1971 draft by the Minnesota North Stars but never suited up for them, instead electing to attend Michigan Tech University, where he won an NCAA Division I championship in 1975 over the Minnesota Golden Gophers. He then played in seventeen games with the Cincinnati Stingers of the WHA (World Hockey Association) in 1975-76 before ending his career with a handful of teams in Germany in 1980-81.
