PREGAME WRITE UP: McGregor Expected to Debut as Petes Host the Otters at the PMC
The Peterborough Petes are coming off of another 1-1 week, improving their season record to 2-2 through the first two weeks of the OHL season. After falling at home on Thursday to the SOO and a red hot Landon Miller (40 save shutout), the Petes ended the week with a 4-2 win on the road against the Brampton Steelheads. These results kept Peterborough in 15th place on the OHL power rankings heading into week three.
On Thursday night, the Petes host the Erie Otters for their annual Pride Game at the Peterborough Memorial Centre. The game is presented by Circul-Air Corp., supported by Peterborough Bath Renovators, and in support of Sport-A-Rainbow. Peterborough will be looking for their first win against the Otters since October of 2023, dropping the last three matchups against their American opponents.
Last week, Carson Cameron rejoined the Petes lineup after returning from Florida Panthers training camp. The newly named Captain made an instant impact, scoring on the road on Saturday in Brampton. The Petes look to be getting more reinforcements for Thursday’s matchup, as 2025 OHL first overall pick Kaden McGregor is expected to suit up for his Petes debut after returning from injury. Easton Rye will also look to keep his good start going heading into Thursday, after beginning the season with a 2.76 GAA and .917 SV% in four games played.
Erie comes into Thursday’s game having collected their first two points on Saturday at home against a winless London Knights. Gabriel Frasca scored late in the third and early in the extra frame to give Erie a 4-3 OT win. A former Kingston first rounder, Frasca has had a solid start to his second season with the Otters, picking up six points in his first four games.
Puck drop for tonight’s game is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at the Peterborough Memorial Centre. Very limited tickets are still available by clicking here, calling (705) 743-3561, or by visiting the Grant Thornton Box Office during business hours.
