Petes Unable to Penetrate Gens Defence
The Petes returned home Thursday evening following a disheartening 4-0 loss in Hamilton on Wednesday morning.
Unable to repeat their previous performance at home against the Oshawa Generals, even with the addition of Logan DeNoble and Zach Gallant to the lineup, the Petes left the ice with a 4-1 loss.
The first period flowed between both ends, with speed and physicality summarizing the style of play from each roster.
Magic was made between rookies Chad Denault and Nick Robertson, when the California native connected with a pass from twenty two and snuck a bottle popping backhand past Cole Ceci.

The lead wasn’t held for long by the Electric City Kids, as Nick Wong tallied his ninth of the season, giving the fans a tied game. This followed some four-on-four hockey that unfolded when Alex Di Carlo and Denault each took a two minute seat at 10:08 for roughing.
This series of events was matched by another set of simultaneous penalties from Serron Noel and Matt McNamara at 10:33.
The period would end with the Petes killing a penalty for the third time in the evening following the appearance of too many skaters on the ice.
Although the first half of the second period was very much a reflection of the initial twenty minutes, a picked pass and break away by Jack Studnicka at 10:55 elicited the Gen’s second of the evening.
Studnicka’s goal proved to give Oshawa the extra edge as they maintained puck possession in the offensive end for the remaining nine minutes. The Petes were only ably to fire five shots on net during the second, with only two coming at the bottom half of the ten minute mark.
Four on four hockey took place for the second time in the game when Semyon Der-Arguchintsev sat in the sin bin following a trip on the visitors, followed by Allan McShane who was punished for hooking forty seconds later.
Although the Petes saw a brief power play, they were unable to make use of the extra skater. It appeared passes weren’t quite connecting for the maroon and white as they attempted to breakout of the defensive end, creating multiple turnovers and forcing Wells to stand on his head.
The momentum continued to swing in Oshawa’s direction as a shot from Domenico Commisso at the point ripped through a series of bodies, including that of net minder Wells, making the score 3-1.
Oshawa secured the win when Kenny Huether shot the puck down the ice into the Petes empty net to seal a 4-1 win for the Generals.

Third Star: Robertson (16)
Second Star: Ceci (35)
First Star: Wong (96)
