Petes draw against the Wolves, 67’s, and Generals on Trade Deadline week
The trade deadline has resulted in some new faces donning the Peterborough sweater ahead of three contests this week against the Sudbury Wolves, Ottawa 67’s, and Oshawa Generals.
The biggest addition to the Lift Lock City crew is former Sudbury Wolf Chase Stillman. Stillman arrives in the patch with lots of excitement and a legacy. His father, Cory Stillman, suited up for the maroon and white as part of the legendary 1992-93 squad. Chase currently has 20 points in 24 games (9-11-20) in the 2021-22 season. The last meeting between the Petes and the Wolves took place on Oct. 14 in front of a jam-packed Peterborough Memorial Centre crowd when the Petes won decisively 5-3. It was the Petes 2021 home opener. The prior meeting on Oct. 8 was on the road in Sudbury where the Wolves won 6-3 during which Stillman picked up a power play goal. The home-ice advantage seems important in this series as each game was won by the host. Stillman collected two goals when the Wolves played Ottawa on Oct. 17 and two assists in two meetings against Oshawa this season.
Peterborough visits the 67’s on Friday for a 7:05 pm matchup. It will be the sixth meeting between Peterborough and Ottawa. The Petes hold a 3-2 edge in the season series winning games in a blowout and narrow fashion. There was the 9-3 landslide in the Nation’s Capital on Nov. 21, the 3-2 victory at home on Nov. 28, and a 4-1 triumph on Dec. 16. Petes leading scorer Tucker Robertson (19-22-41) thrives when teeing up against Ottawa. In five games, he has collected nine points (3-6-9) and won 52% of faceoffs.
The Petes concluded this week with a final showdown against the Generals on Saturday evening at the PMC. The Lift Lock lads are outscoring the Generals this season 106-98. Oshawa’s leading scorer is Ty Tullio, who has 41 points in 28 games, putting him on pace to pass his career-best 66 points set in 2019-20. Peterborough defeated Oshawa on Oct. 21 by scoring first and never falling behind. Robertson posted one of his best games of the season, recording one goal and four assists for five points, a +4 rating, and winning 18 of 26 draws.
