Generals Snap Petes Streak In First PMC Appearance
Following a successful Alumni weekend which saw the Petes victorious in a 3-in-3, the oldest rivalry in junior hockey came to town with the Oshawa Generals making their way up the highway to pay the Liftlock Lads the first of many highly anticipated visits on home ice. The Petes were looking to continue their significant streak as they stood 8-2-0 and had only recently beat the Gens 2-1 the past Friday, but Oshawa was the stronger team and earned a 4-1 victory.
The first period was quiet from the start, with neither side registering a goal despite a two-sided pummeling of the goalies. The biggest draw of the period came from Peterborough’s Cole Fraser who sent a powerful shoulder into Generals captain and Boston Bruins prospect Jack Studnicka, causing him to return with a slash and give the Petes their first powerplay of the evening, although nothing would come of the home team’s opportunity as the clock wound down to the buzzer.

In the 13th minute of the second period Oshawa finally broke Hunter Jones as Eric Henderson scored shorthanded from a feed by Studnicka to give the Gens a 1-0 lead and the first mark of the night.
Minutes later the Generals struck again to increase their lead by 2-0 with a goal from Danyk Drouin courtesy of 2018 import Nando Eggenberger.
The teams would finish off the second frame in a 4-on-4 situation after Chad Denault and Serron Noel were sent off for roughing with 4 seconds left to play.
Both clubs would go to the dressing rooms with Oshawa sitting at a 2-0 lead and commanding the shot clock 27-20.

Oshawa further solidified their lead in the third as Henderson fired his second of the night with assists awarded to Noel and Matt Brassard for a 3-0 tally which would ultimately seal the Gens’ win.
In an effort to deny Kyle Keyser his first shutout of the 2018-19 campaign, Cole Fraser positioned himself at the opposing net and was met by the Russian duo Pavel Gogolev and Semyon Der-Arguchintsev who managed to slide him the puck which he knocked past Keyser to mark the board for the Petes.
FRAZ! A little bit of hope for your Petes as @colefraser2 beats Keyser! Assists to @Pavel_gogolev17 and SDA. 3-1 Gens.#GoPetesGo pic.twitter.com/uEy0sHOLtx

Even with their shutout chance eliminated, the Generals would still ensure they held possession of the winning goal as Studnicka took a pass from Henderson and scored an empty net goal upon the removal of Hunter Jones, The Generals would leave the ice having broken Peterborough’s impressive early season 4 game winning streak with a final score of 4-1.
Henderson, Keyser, and Fraser were named the games first, second and third stars, respectively.
Final shots were 44-30 in favour of the Generals. Hunter Jones was Peterborough’s Mark’s Hardest Working Player of the Game.
The Petes return home on Thursday, October 25th at 7:05pm following a three game roadtrip which will see them match up in Mississauga, Oshawa for the second time, and Niagara.
