Job Posting – Director of Communications and Game Night Operations
The Peterborough Petes, proud members of the Ontario Hockey League, seek a dedicated, detailed oriented individual who has a considerable knowledge of sport, specifically junior hockey, to lead our communications, media relations, social media, and event execution.
We are currently accepting applications for the position of Director of Communications and Game Night Operations. This position will be responsible for team communications and media relations, website and social media strategies, and game night operations.
Duties will include, but are not limited to, developing, managing and updating content for website and social media, liaise with local and national media, prepare team announcements and press releases, conducting media conferences and facilitating media requests, and oversee the execution of all aspects of game night operations.
To succeed in this position, you must have excellent oral and written communication skills, be a creative web communicator, vision to develop a social media strategy, strong organizational skills, experience in media/public relations and proven experience in event operations. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 12 months work experience in hockey and/or sport in communications and game night operations, have a tremendous work ethic, handle various tasks simultaneously, able to adapt readily to new challenges, organize, lead and manage a group of volunteers and the ability to work independently and as a member of a team. Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Acrobat are an asset. A degree/diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution is essential. A degree/diploma in Sports Administration, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or a web related field is preferred.
