THREE STARS: Otters Show Grit on the Road

Erie, Pennsylvania – It’s been a tough two weeks for the Otters as they finally wrap up their seven-game stretch within ten days.
On the road for the western swing, the Otters dropped all three games as they have suffered four losses in a row.
First up on Thursday, the Otters traveled to Windsor to play the Spitfires, where four unanswered goals in the second frame wouldn’t be enough to walk away with a win and the Otters would fall 5-4. On Friday, the Otters went to Sarnia and fell 6-4 before finishing the week off at Saginaw, where they lost 5-2.
Here are some of the players who showed the most energy
THIRD STAR – PANO FIMIS
Pano Fimis certainly did his part in getting points on the board for the Otters!
On Thursday’s game against the Windsor Spitfires, Fimis scored the third unanswered goal for Erie and his seventeenth of the season.
Fimis teamed up with Sam Alfano on Friday to set Dylan Edwards up for his tenth goal of the season, once again displaying the brutal efficiency of the Edwards-Fimis-Alfano line.
SECOND STAR – MARTIN MISIAK
Martin Misiak picked up two points on the week, both of them coming from Thursday’s game at Windsor.
Misiak scored the opening goal for the Otters less than thirty seconds into the second period off a power play and would assist Brett Bressette three minutes later to even the score at 2-2 before the Spitfires would eventually pull away with a win.
FIRST STAR – SAM ALFANO
Sam Alfano racked up three points on the weekend, bringing his season total to 41, with 18 goals and 23 assists.
Alfano picked up one assist on Thursday, setting up Dylan Edwards with the help of Pano Fimis before scoring a goal of his own on Friday. A solo goal just twenty seconds before the end of the second period would attempt to close the lead the Sting were trying to pull away with. In the third period, Alfano and Fimis once again helped set Edwards up.
Four games await the Otters between now and one week from today, and will be split between two on the road and two at home.
Their first game of the week is Wednesday, and what better way to spend Valentine’s Day than to watch hockey? The Otters play the Niagara IceDogs for the fifth time this season and the last time at home. It’s also a Winning Wednesday (pres. by Widget Financial) – if the Otters are victorious, all fans in attendance get a free ticket for our final Wednesday home game on March 13 against London.
On Friday, Erie will hit the road and travel to play the Guelph Storm for the final time away this season. Erie will search for its first win at Guelph since February 2020.
Saturday is Otto’s birthday! Come to the Erie Insurance Arena to watch the Otters play the Oshawa Generals and enjoy Mascot Mania Night (pres. by Chick-fil-A)! The first 1500 fans to walk in receive a FREE Otto the Otter Bobblehead (pres. by Rebich Investments). Keep an eye out this week as our highly-anticipated guest list of mascots is announced!
The Otters’ final game is Monday against the Brantford Bulldogs. This game will be the first and only time Erie plays Brantford on the road, and will be part of Canada’s Family Day holiday.
