Ontario Hockey League Announces Changes To Games 6 and 7 of Erie’s First Round Series
Erie, Pennsylvania – Due to concerns regarding travel conditions as a result of the Total Solar Eclipse, the Ontario Hockey League, Kitchener Rangers, and Erie Otters have announced an updated schedule for the first round series.
With upwards of 250,000 people expected to be in the City of Erie during the Total Solar Eclipse, the Erie Otters organization originally proposed alterations to the first round schedule to properly address issues regarding travel, traffic, and lodging. Propelled by a preemptive state of emergency declared by the Niagara Falls region this week due to the massive influx of those working to cross the border, the OHL, Rangers, and Otters have come to an agreement on an extension of the series should games 6 and 7 need to be played.
Game 6 (if necessary) will now be played at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 9 at the Erie Insurance Arena – should Game 6 be necessary, single game tickets for the game will go on-sale immediately. As a result of the movement, Kitchener would now host Game 7 (if necessary) at 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 10.
These will be the only changes to initially announced dates for the First Round series. Erie will host Game 4 on Thursday, April 4 at 7:00 P.M., before returning to Kitchener for Game 5. Kitchener currently leads the series 2-1.
The Erie Otters commend the league and its opponent for their flexibility to assure the most beneficial circumstances for the Rangers team, as well as to all of Otters Nation. The Otters organization looks forward to its fanbase and community being able to celebrate this once-in-a-lifetime experience for the community on Monday, and welcoming the best fans in the OHL back for the final home game of the first round if deemed necessary on Tuesday.
