IceDogs fall 4-2 to top team in Central Division, Wolves
The Niagara IceDogs concluded their 3-game road trip Friday night in Sudbury. Coming into tonight’s game, the IceDogs were looking to build off the momentum of defeating divisional rivals, the Barrie Colts, 6-3.
The IceDogs, and Andrew MacLean, weathered an early flurry from the Central Division leaders. The Wolves opened the scoring, but just five minutes later Ivan Lodnia scored his second goal in as many nights to draw the game to an even score.
We absolutely love to see it!

Lodnia’s first period goal set a career high for most goals scored in one season, continuing his fifth season tear on the OHL.
Niagara didn’t take the foot off the pedal in the second period, dominating much of the play. Although they weren’t able to get any pucks in the net, they outshot the Wolves, to lead 22-17 after forty minutes of play. The IceDogs penalty kill continued to be effective, limiting the lone Sudbury power play to 2 shots. Mason Howard briefly left the bench in the second period after getting cut by a high stick, but he returned shortly thereafter.
Ivan Lodnia gave the IceDogs the lead 23 seconds into the third period, off a dazzling shorthanded goal.

The Wolves scored two consecutive goals quickly after Lodnia took the lead. The ‘Dogs pressed hard, especially in the dying minutes of the game, but they weren’t able to capitalize.
The Wolves scored on the empty net to take tonight’s game 4-2. The game was a hard fought, and tight game, with the shots nearly even (31-29 for Sudbury), and with only 10 penalties called in its entirety.
Niagara is returning back to home action this Sunday, March 1st, against the North Bay Battalion to close out the weekend!
