Goal for Goal, with the IceDogs Falling to Oshawa 4-3 in Overtime
Tonight, your young Niagara IceDogs took on the experienced Oshawa Generals. Former Niagara IceDog, Lleyton Moore, returned to the Meridian center for the first time.
The IceDogs weathered the storm with Christian Sbaraglia looking at home in net as the Generals came out in full force. It wasn’t too long before the IceDogs brought their own thunder and scored a powerplay maker from Castleman, assisted by Tomasino and Elijah. The period ended with the IceDogs leading on the scoreboard 1-0, and the shot clock 13-11.
The Generals found the back of the net 10:05 into the second period. The IceDogs found themselves not only killing a five minute roughing penalty courtesy of Christian Sbaraglia, but also making a goaltender change with Tucker Tynan taking over between the pipes. Oshawa capitalized once on their powerplay, but the IceDogs pushed back with a handful of scoring chances to end the second period.
Mason Howard jumped in on the scoring with his first of the year by scoring the tying goal 6:18 into the third to make it 2-2. Oshawa pushed back with a goal just past the halfway mark of the third. The IceDogs were relentless and pushed back by pulling their goalie and scoring on the 6 on 5 odd man opportunity. The goal was scored by defensemen Drew Hunter, assisted by Phil Tomasino and Elijah Roberts. The Oshawa Generals ultimately took this one in 3 on 3 overtime.
The IceDogs look to get back in the winning column on Saturday at the Dort Federal Event Center.
