Development Camp Details Released
In just over a week from now, 47 Soo Greyhounds hopefuls will arrive in Sault Ste. Marie for the team’s 2012 Development Camp.
Set for Friday, May 4th through Sunday, May 6th at the John Rhodes Community Centre, all players will go through a variety of events ranging from off-ice testing, practice sessions, scrimmages, educational and nutritional seminars. With the wide range of events scheduled, participants will gain valuable knowledge and experience of all components that will make them a successful member of the Soo Greyhounds Hockey Club – on and off the ice.
The player breakdown of participating players is as follows:
– 47 total players; 9 goalies, 13 defenseman, 25 forwards
– 7 players were selected in the 2011 OHL Priority Selection, 17 were selected in this past May’s 2012 OHL Priority Selection while 23 are FREE AGENT invites.
Of note, 2011 Draft picks FRASER TURNER and MAC CLUTSAM along with 2012 draftee ANTHONY ANGELLO were set participate but have other hockey committments that will keep them from coming to the Soo. Turner and his Soo Thunderbird teammates will be participating in the Royal Bank Cup (Humbodt, SASK), Clutsam will be attending the Elmira Sugar Kings year-end banquet while Angello will be attending the New York State Select festival.
All three are expected to attend the team’s main camp at the end of August/beginning of September.
