Arizona selects Hayton 5th Overall (2018 NHL Entry Draft)
The 2018 NHL Entry Draft began tonight with the opening round from the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.
Soo Greyhounds’ forward BARRETT HAYTON was the first Hound selected, with the 5th pick overall pick of the 1st Round by the Arizona Coyotes.
Hayton, a native of Peterborough, ON is coming off his second season as a member of the Hounds.
The 6.01, 191-lb centreman recorded nearly a point-per-game in 2017-18 recording 21 goals and 39 assists (60 points) in 63 regular season games played.
He added 21 points (8g, 13a) in 24 post-season games.
He was rated 9th in the NHL Central Scouting Final Rankings for North American skaters.
