Game Preview: Oshawa vs Niagara
Despite carrying a 2-1 lead into the third, the Oshawa Generals fell 4-3 on the road to the Battalion. Had they won the game it would have been the first times the Generals posted back-to-back victories since the first week of November. They now face an even taller task on Friday night when they host the Niagara Ice Dogs.
The IceDogs sit in sixth place in the conference but are starting to heat up. Josh Ho-Sang sits in 13th place in OHL scoring with 39 points. The team also recently picked up goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic from the Flint Firebirds. Nedeljkovic has posted a 3.00 GAA in 21 games this season, but in two games with a stronger Niagara team boasts a .973 save percentage.
The IceDogs have six wins in their last ten plus one overtime loss while the Generals have only two wins in their last 10, and collected partial points in two other contests.
If the Generals hope the compete tonight as they will have to rely on the special teams. An early power-play goal on Thursday night helped the Gens maintain a lead for a majority of the game. Their top five power-play unit continues to be their biggest asset night in and night out.
Logan Gauthier was started for his second game in a row on Thursday, and the team will likely return to Jeremy Brodeur, who has eaten up a vast majority of the minutes in net.
