Game Preview: Oshawa vs. Hamilton
The Oshawa Generals will host the Hamilton Bulldogs in their fourth annual Bell Let’s Talk Game. Throughout the game, there will be prize giveaways and a first intermission activity. The Generals picked up one point in the shootout on Friday night.
The Generals and Bulldogs have faced off four times this season, with the Generals leading the season series 3-1. Hamilton won the first game of the year by a score of 4-3, but the Generals have dominated since then, winning by scores of 4-1, 6-3, and 4-3. In the most recent game, which came back on November 20th, Joe Manchurek led the way for the Generals in the win. The left-winger scored two goals in the victory. Mitchell Vande Sompel had a strong night, recording two assists. The Generals received contributions on the score sheet from eight other players in the win. Jeremy Brodeur made 21 stops in the Generals net. Hamilton received goals from Matthew Strome, Jesse Saban, and since traded Mason Marchment. Charlie Graham, now with the Sarnia Sting, made the start for the Bulldogs.
Hamilton is entering the GM Centre on Sunday for their third game in three days. Friday night they hosted the North Bay Battalion, before hosting the Mississauga Steelheads on Saturday. The Bulldogs managed to pick up three points over the weekend, falling to the Battalion in overtime before defeating the Steelheads 4-1 on Saturday night. Hamilton put 40 shots on the Mississauga net with Strome, Niki Petti, Trent Fox and Brandon Saigeon scoring the goals. Kaden Fulcher made the start in net, recording 19 saves in the win.
The Generals are coming off a Friday night matchup with the Ottawa 67’s. After not trailing for any period in the entire game, the Generals fell to the 67’s in the shootout. Eric Henderson led the Generals with one goal and one assist in the game. Domenic Commisso and Alexandre Renaud added the other goals for the Generals. Justin Nichols made his third start for Oshawa, making 19 saves in regulation and overtime before allowing two goals in the shootout.
Puck drop is set for 3:00 as the Generals will be looking to jump Hamilton in the standings and take control of the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
