Game Preview: Oshawa at Peterborough
Game Preview: Oshawa at Peterborough
The Generals will look to rebound in the second game of a home-and-home series versus their rivals the Peterborough Petes. Eric Cornel scored a hat-trick Friday night at the General Motors Centre to lead his team to victory 4-2. It appears the teams are going in opposite directions as the Petes have won five straight, but the Gens are struggling to win only once in the last eight games.
The Gens fell behind 3-0 in the second, but a pair of Kenny Huether had the team, and the crowd back in the game before the start of the third. Jeremy Brodeur was pulled in favour of Logan Gauthier after Oshawa trailed 3-0, and it appeared the team woke up a little. Gauthier has only the one start but has appeared in six games. One has to wonder if he will be given the start on Saturday night in an attempt to mix things up, and help rest Brodeur.
A better effort from Oshawa’s special teams will be needed in Peterborough Saturday night if they hope to collect some points. The power-play went 0-7 on Friday despite some excellent scoring chances. Dylan Wells continues to play well, but the Petes have split the time between the pipes with Matthew Mancina and Wells.
The Generals will have to come out strong, and not give up an early lead on the road. If they can get on the board early, and silence the Peterborough crowd, they may be able to snap this slump they are in.
