Round 2 Game 1: Generals take charge against 67’s at TCC
Oshawa, Ont., – The Oshawa Generals take down the Ottawa 67’s 4-3 to open the second round of the OHL playoffs.
Dylan Roobroeck had a four-point game scoring and adding three assists, while Calum Ritchie had three-point scoring twice and adding a helper. Jacob Oster was in net stopping 27 of the 30 shots he faced in the win.
The 67’s got the series started, scoring on a powerplay as they worked the puck to Thomas Sirman at the point who took a one-timer that beat Oster making it 1-0 Ottawa.
In the second period, the Gens would respond when a Luca D’Amato shot was deflected in front of the net by Roobroeck finding its way past Collin MacKenzie tying the game at 1-1.
Oshawa would get the lead early in the third period as Roobroeck found Beckett Sennecke in transition and the winger carried it across the blueline making a move on the defenceman before snapping it past MacKenzie making it 2-1 Gens.
A short while later, Ottawa would tie the game back up as they came in on a 2-on-1 and it was Luca Pinelli keeping and beating Oster making it 2-2.
The Gens would restore the lead with a highlight reel goal as Roobroeck created a turnover and got the puck to Ritchie who when between his legs to get around the defenceman and goalie before sliding it into an empty net making it 3-2 Oshawa.
A little over a minute later Ritchie would score his second of the game when the puck came to him in front of the net for him to jam home giving the Generals a 4-2 lead.
The 67’s would cut that lead in half as Kimi Körbler went behind the Gens’ net before finding Braeden Kressler on the backdoor to make it 4-3 Oshawa.
